Monroe’s Pet Lovers Came Together to Support the Green County Humane Society

Our team members are passionate about supporting the community we all call home. Recently, Tracy Lange, the Commercial Truck Equipment Planner/Scheduler at our Monroe, WI location, has started a new giving tradition.

Tracy hosted a Pet Supply and Food Drive for the Green County Humane Society. The Humane Society was overrun with pets, and needed some assistance from the community to support their mission. Team members donated food, toys, and cleaning supplies to help support these shelter animals before they’re adopted out to loving homes.

Green County Humane Society

The Green County Humane Society has a mission to advocate for the lives of companion animals by finding quality forever homes, providing community education, and promoting responsible animal ownership.

Members, staff, volunteers, a Board of Directors, network of foster homes and of course generous donors help make their mission a success year after year. The organization is working toward several initiatives: Green County logo

  • Promoting compassionate and appropriate treatment of animals throughout Green and Lafayette Counties.
  • Realizing the need to educate the general public in areas of animal care, especially the need for spaying and neutering of animals to prevent further overpopulation.
  • Diligently assisting law enforcement and the general public in the effort to end animal abuse.
  • Searching for quality homes for every adoptable animal that comes into the shelter.
  • Expanding the knowledge of and protection of animals we share our lives and world with.

In addition to these amazing initiatives, Green County Humane society has worked from having a 62% kill rate in 1999 to becoming a No Kill Shelter. That means that no animal in their facility will ever be euthanized for space, length of stay or breed considerations. In cases of serious illness and suffering, a euthanasia process may be necessary. The decision to euthanize any animal is not taken lightly and they look at every option before making that decision.

Animals In Need

Wisconsin, like states across the country, is working to reduce the number of stray animals through several initiatives including fostering, adaptation, microchipping and spay and neutering services. The Green County Humane Society helps over 400 animals each year.

According to a recent report released by Best Friends Animal Society, a national welfare organization, Wisconsin shelters saved 56,742 cats and dogs in the year 2021 alone, which has resulted in an impressive 87.7% total save rate.
